Tread lightly for the road is fragile. Pounce gently, the floor is cracked. Look around the desolate tundra. Do not let yourself be tracked. It's funny how we can allow someone to take almost total control of our lives. We let them wheedle into cracks we thought we had sealed in the walls around ourselves. They start to infest you and in return, you agree to trust them. You trust that they will never hurt you, trust that they will always pick you up when you aren't feeling like you can continue. They are the reason you smile and the reason, for some, you get up in the morning. You put so much faith and trust and love in this one person, this one soul who you KNOW would never do you any harm. I feel a creep, A tendril deep inside. Another voice is calling me Locked unhappily inside my mind. I feel my veins burn With an itch I can't scratch. I gasp for breath, Feel the fire in my throat. I forget you're there When you don't speak You keep a distance Until I grow weak. When I need you here, You run to comfort And I spill the shadows You don't retort.
